SAILING
& CRUISING Falmouth
is a mecca for sailors everywhere, with its huge protected natural
harbour and its long history of ships and sailing. The Helford River
with its sheltered moorings is at the West end of Falmouth Bay,
giving it immediate access to the harbour and the open sea.
For the less
adventurous Ridifarne is 5 minutes walk from the famous Ferry Boat
Inn where you can hire sailing and motor boats, or rent a mooring
if you bring your own boat.
WALKING
The Cornish cliffs offer spectacular walking for all levels of energy
and enthusiasm. The Cornish Coastal Path – 250 miles of well tended
and clearly marked footpath – crosses the river by ferry 5 minutes
walk from the house .
SIGHTSEEINGThere
is plenty to see in Cornwall. The highlights include Lands End; the
Lizard peninsula; the Tate of St Ives art gallery; internationally
famous surfing beaches; Goonhilly Satellite Tracking Station – the
largest in the world; the Eden Project, an incredible display of plants
from every climate, in a spectacular setting; as well as the charm
of the fishing villages and pubs for which the County is famous.
GARDENS
Cornwall is a gardener’s paradise with many famous and outstanding
gardens including Glendurgan, Trebah, Trewithen and the Lost Gardens
of Heligan all within an hour’s drive, making Ridifarne a wonderful
base for a garden visitor’s holiday. A special time for this is the
Cornish Gardens festival which takes place every Spring.
RELAXING
If that all sounds like hard work, spend the day on one of Ridifarne’s
terraces enjoying what must be one of the best views in the UK.
